Launch Minnesota

The Business Operation Expenses grant reimburses expenses incurred in Minnesota for research and development, direct business expenses, and the purchase of technical assistance and services. Qualifying businesses receive grants not to exceed $35,000 which must be matched by the recipient on a 1:1 dollar basis. Applicant may receive one grant per biennium (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2021)

Eligibility Criteria

• Primary business activity is in a technology industry
• Business operations and headquarters in Minnesota
• Business has not been in operation for more than 10 years
• Business generated less than $1 million in revenue

Grant applications are reviewed on a rolling basis. The Launch Minnesota Advisory Board conducts an initial application review at its meetings, which occur approximately every two months.

• Application

The Housing-Childcare Expenses grant reimburses expense incurred in Minnesota for housing and/or childcare expenses incurred by an entrepreneur or their spouse or their children. Qualifying entrepreneurs receive grants up to $7,500, which must be matched by the recipient on a 1:1 dollar basis.

Eligibility Criteria

• Applicant entrepreneur is a Minnesota resident
• Primary business activity is in a high technology industry
• Business operations and headquarters are in Minnesota
• Business has not been in operation for more than 10 years
• Business generated less than $1 million in revenue

• Application

The SBIR-STTR Phase 2 Grant provides funding to Federal SBIR/STTR first time Phase 2 awardees who were notified/approved after July 1, 2019. Qualifying businesses receive grants based on sliding scale of their Federal award up to $50,000. Applicants may receive up to one grant per biennium (July 1, 2019 – June 30, 2021).

Eligibility Criteria

• Acceptance in the Minnesota Small Business Innovation Research (MNSBIR) Accelerator program
• Federal SBIR/STTR first time Phase 2 awardee after July 1, 2019
• Business operations and headquarters in Minnesota
