Let’s face it—picking a career path can be daunting. Often, students enter the accounting industry but are unsure of what to specialize in. The truth of the matter— not knowing is normal! Luckily, there is a way to try several accounting career paths simultaneously.
Learn and grow the industry
Here at Christianson CPAs and Consultants, we pride ourselves on helping young professionals learn and grow in the industry. As an entry-level professional at our firm, you will be able to acquire new skills and deepen your understanding of various industries.
Tax
There’s more to working in tax than preparing and filing tax returns. As a tax professional, you serve as the client’s primary source of counsel and support as they navigate an ever-changing tax landscape.
In this department, you will use your knowledge of tax law and incentives to minimize a client’s tax exposure and create a tax strategy that will meet each client’s needs. Put your problem-solving hat on as you help various clients, ranging from individuals to large corporations.
Compliance
When you work with Christianson’s Compliance team, you receive an in-depth view of how an accounting education can be used to assist clients in their push for more sustainable processes. Christianson is known for its expertise in the biofuel industry.
We help fuel producers, marketers, terminal operators, obliged partiers, and more, remain in compliance with and understand the complexity of the Renewable Fuel Standard and other regulatory mandates. Christianson also assists corporations looking to register with and apply for financial assistance from the correct federal agencies, such as the United States Environmental Protection Agency and the USDA. Furthermore, spending time with the Compliance department will allow you to gain insight into Christianson’s consulting services.
Client Advisory and Accounting Services
In our Client Advisory and Accounting Services department (CAAS), your job is to make sure that clients feel they have clear and operative financial functions.
One responsibility of CAAS professionals is payroll, saving our client time and money, along with providing up-to-date information on changing payroll requirements. We also provide accounting services. Regardless of your specific accounting role, you will play a pivotal role in the growth and success of your client’s company.
Audit
Take your accounting career to the next level as you grow your strengths in auditing. Working with this department will allow you the chance to analyze client activity and operations. It also gives you an improved understanding of the inner workings of companies. As an audit professional, your goal is to help clients meet assurance requirements. Performing audits, reviews, attestations, and agreed upon procedures helps ensure that your clients are displaying error-free financial statements.
Christianson also takes pride in being a peer reviewer of other accounting firms. Working within this department, you will gain familiarity with two important types of peer review: system reviews and engagement reviews. In a system review, you will assess another firm’s compliance with quality control standards. In an engagement review, you will evaluate compliance with standards for a limited selection of accounting engagements. Both types of reviews are for a specific one-year period.
